GIVE CROHN’S A SLAP FROM ME (GCASFM) is a collaborative project founded by Matt
Strutt aka Cheffo31, to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease, with the help of some of the world’s most prolific graffiti artists, street artists and illustrators. Armed with a stack of 2000 USPS labels for artists to draw on, our aim is to turn these artistic interpretations of the title Give Crohn’s A Slap From Me, into a limited edition book
which will raise money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK. With new team members on board, designers Moose & Yeti, Andre Leitão and Joana Morgado, ex-VNA writer Ro Elfberg and media whizz Jack Shearring, the project is stronger than ever. Over 70 artists are now involved, we have a successful live art event under our belt and growing coverage of the project, we’re already slapping Crohn’s left, right and centre.. and we’ve only just begun.
THE EXHIBITION AND THE BOOK
An exhibition of the original pieces of work will be held in London (date TBC). Visitors will be able to view this unique body of work in an environment which also challenges their perceptions of the disease itself. Original sticker artworks will be available to buy at auction on the night. A limited edition book of the artist’s slaps will also be published, thus enabling the vision of the project and Crohn’s awareness to go beyond the gallery and into the home. All proceeds from the book and exhibition will go to the ‘Crohn’s and Colitis UK’ charity, to help with their research, support and their fight for change for those who suffer with the condition.
FUNDRAISING
GCASFM will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to publish the book and keep the project alive. In the meantime a Just Giving page has been set up for the project and is available for anyone to donate to the charity: www.justgiving.com/matthew-strutt
